I am Cpt Simon Maxwell Royal Marines. I grew up in Croydon and went to the John Fisher School, where I played rugby. After three years studying history at Nottingham University I joined the Royal Marines and passed out of training as a Royal Marines Commando Officer 16 months later.
After joining 42 Commando Royal Marines I deployed to Helmand Province as a Troop Commander with Lima Company, where we had a busy and kinetic Tour.
In August 2011 I stepped onto an IED by a irrigation ditch and had my left foot blown off.
I want to compete a full Ironman within a year of being injured as something to focus upon whilst in rehabilitation.
